Expert Orthodontist for braces treatment to Maintaining Healthy Teeth

For our patients in Hanover braces have really changed their life.  Once they come off, they find themselves smiling all the time, feeling better about themselves and with a better outlook on life.  As our Hanover orthodontist will tell you, it is vital that you work hard to maintain your healthy and beautiful smile once you no longer wear braces.  After all, you have put a lot of time and effort into getting that perfect smile—you wouldn’t want to do anything that would hurt it.  To that effort, here are a few things you need to remember once your braces are off.
Watch Your Habits
There are a lot of things we can do that will damage or discolor our teeth.  Red wine, coffee, and dark tea can stain the teeth; smoking or chewing tobacco can also do so.  You must also be careful when playing sports or otherwise being physically active as you can have an accident that may damage your teeth.  While our Hanover orthodontist cares for all of our patients, it is preferred that you not need to see us because you chipped your tooth.
Brush and Floss
To avoid stains as well as cavities and gum disease, you must brush and floss regularly.  Make sure you are doing so at least twice a day and check your technique.  Believe it or not, Hanover Orthodontist many people do not brush their teeth correctly.  Using the proper technique will give you maximum benefits and the best possible dental health.
Visit the Dentist
Your regular dental check-ups will be just as important after your braces come off as they were before.  However, you will want to be protecting the investment you have made in your smile.  Schedule your dental appointments every six months.
Listen to your Body
We want all of our Hanover braces patients to know that it is important they pay attention to the signals their body gives them.  If you feel that something is wrong or you feel pain, schedule a visit with your dentist as soon as possible.  The earlier you seek treatment, the better the results.
